ACTOR | PRODUCER | ARTISTIC DIRECTOR | WRITER
“If you can do anything else that isn’t acting, do it.”
Sound advice from my parents who were both actors.
I like to think I followed it, just not in the way that they’d intended. Firstly, I ran away to the circus. It wasn’t technically ‘acting,’ but it wasn’t technically what they meant either. I found the training extremely beneficial and utilise a lot of it in my acting today.
My love of my industry has only grown over the years and now extends beyond performance into the realms of creation and production. During my career I have worked as an actor, writer, director and producer, and have extensive international touring experience.
In the UK I was a founding member, actor and associate director of the critically acclaimed theatre company 'The HandleBards.’ To date I have portrayed approximately 60 characters in hundreds of theatre performances across 13 countries. I have been very fortunate to have worked with practitioners from the RSC, the Globe, the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company and Adam Spiegel Productions.
My on screen performances include reality TV show ‘Say Yes to the Dress,’ as FE on “Downton Abbey” and “Brexit: The Uncivil war,” and several European wide commercials.
In London I worked as the Associate Producer at the Young Vic, on Theatre Uncut with BAFTA nominee Sarah Brocklehurst.
Under Artistic Director Hamish Jenkinson, I spent time producing at the Old Vic Tunnels, London where I ended up working and performing with Olivier award winner Marisa Carnesky. I worked in casting in the West End, and as the Assistant Director to award-winning director Hannah Price for LBP Ltd.
In 2021 I moved to Auckland and formed the production company 'Boyd and Brodie Productions.’ This company produces work in stage and screen, and our first theatre production 'Waiting for Waiting for Godot' directed by Michael Hurst will show at Q Theatre in March 2023.
The different roles I have worked in, the touring I have done and the various practitioners I have learned from, has given me a breadth of understanding and a continuous curiosity to learn more. It is truly important to create, encourage, perform and produce.
